A little about me

01.

I’m Yami (Jah-me)

Not "Jamming".

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, with its beautiful rich culture, people, beaches, and mountains. Lived in Connecticut for 13 years. I love the color black, gray and green, pastries, sushi, pasta and of course puertorican cuisine!

While I'm not behind the camera

I devote my time to caring for my mom, who faces advanced frontotemporal dementia. Though I am grateful to be able to care for her I mourn the loss of who she was, but every day I get to catch a glimpse of her in her eyes and smile.

Photography

I'm captivated by love. Love to me is poetic, and my photography is an expression of that fascination. It all began with my sisters pregnancy in 2008 capturing the anticipation of new life. From the maternity shoot to the miracle of my nephew's birth to the tender scenes within the hospital walls. I strive to capture all the beautiful subtleties that make each story unique.

Interesting Fact

I have a background in social sciences with a touch of theatre in my academic journey. Acting, dancing, writing, and singing used to be my creative outlets, and they've enriched my perception of the visual storytelling in photography.
